Christmas Decorating Extravaganza

IT'S SNOWING OUTSIDE!!! And it's sticking! Although this isn't the first snow of the season, it's the first one of December, making it feel more like Christmas. How exciting!

To kick off the season (which is usually the day after Thanksgiving), I put up all of the Christmas decorations around the house. This year was no exception. Ok, well there was one exception. The icicle lights are up on the front of the house, the garland with lights around the front porch posts (new this year), and the Christmas tree, of course. The way my living room is set up, the Christmas tree is not directly in front of the living room window - it's off to the side just a smidge. I get the bright idea around 10:30 Saturday night to move the end table over so the tree would be in centered front of the window. Upon attempting this simple fete, the tree tipped over, ornaments went flying, the star on top broke, and the tree stand cracked, leaving the tree unable to stand on its own. Not good I tell you. Not good.

I did not shed a tear, however! I burst into laughter. Andrea (my roommate) and I quickly took off all the ornaments and lights and gently placed them into a large pile on the living room floor. Another friend asked if Wal-Mart sold replacement artificial tree stands, and I didn't think they did. But guess what - THEY DO! I purchased the new stand Tuesday night and put the tree itself back up that evening and even put the lights on. Tonight's goal is to put the ornaments and decorations back on. Pictures to follow soon!
